Take flight

(or The Other side of Nature)
Poetry prompt from http://wewritepoems.wordpress.com/

You stand and watch

Your arms embrace me.

Songsters built me strong

Of bits of nature’s remnants.

My floor grasps tightly

To your gnarly fingers.

We cuddle life within our walls

Keep it safe ‘til it breaks free.

We protect, conceal, and nurture

Until movement, birth, and being

Leap into freedom’s grace.

And then we rest.

Diligent, quiet, waiting

Our purpose fulfilled

Until the seasons’ rhythms

Take flight again.
