100-word Flash Fiction

This week’s story is inspired by this photograph provided by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields.

On the menu this week, something a little more light-hearted after the seriousness of last week’s The bridge. I hope you won’t think I’m being too facetious… er… catty! 😉

Callicat laughed so hard her whiskers quivered.

“What?” asked Minnie proudly smoothing her fur.

“What do you mean, ‘what’? Do you have any idea how ridiculous you look?”

“This is the new ‘in thing’. I’m being stylish.”

“Blue stripes on a mouse!” Callicat howled even louder.

“Not stripes. It’s called chevron, I’ll have you know.”

“Chevron. Shmevron. You still look ridiculous.”

“No more ridiculous than all those orange and black and white blobs all over you. It looks like your mother barfed up Halloween all over you.”

Callicat sprang indignantly to her feet.

“It’s called calico, I’ll have you know.”

  1. Dear Caerlynn,

This is hilarious. I had a calico years ago and named her Granola because I thought she looked like granola with raisins in milk. “looks like your mother barfed up Halloween”…too funny.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle
