100-word Flash Fiction

This week’s story is inspired by this photograph provided by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields.

“What is this?”

“Just an old tunnel. I’ve been down with Dad.  He said the gangsters used to use it back in the early 1900s.”

“Any liquor or guns still down there?”

“Nah. Ain’t nothing down there. The tunnel just dead ends in a pool of salt water. C’mon, I’ll show you.”

The boys entered and crept down the stairs.

Danny shone his flashlight over the cracks in the timber beam wall. The light caught something protruding from a crack at the base of the wall.

“Holy! Eddy, look!” He held up a silver flask engraved with C “Lucky” L.

  1. Just proves…you never know until you look! They would not have found that if they just believed there really wasn’t anything down there, and didn’t bother to go down and look .

    1. Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed the story. It was a fun one, although I’m surprised how many people didn’t get the reference to Lucky Luciano the American gangster. I feel like I should have somehow included an explanation.

I love to hear from my readers! Don't be shy.
